WOODBRIDGE,Va.– A man accused of wielding knife and purse snatching arrested, police say.

Armed Robbery | Attempted Malicious Wounding–
On October 10th at 8:42PM, police responded to the 14900 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery.
The victim, a 34 year old woman of no fixed address, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were walking in the area above when a verbal altercation ensued over property the victim was carrying.
During the encounter, the accused displayed knife and began slashing towards the victim. The victim was able to run across the street however the accused caught up and assaulted her before taking her purse and fleeing the area.
No injuries were reported. Officers located and arrested the accused a short time later.

Darius Lamont WASHINGTON, 36, of no fixed address
Charged with robbery and attempted malicious wounding
