Attempted Residential Burglary –
On September 27th at 9:56AM, police responded to a residence located in the 4300 block of Canterbury Ln in Gainesville (20155) for a burglary in progress.
The homeowner reported to police that she was inside her residence when she heard the doorbell ring. The homeowner didn’t not answer the door, at which point, the suspect tried to enter the residence.
The suspect was not able to get into the residence due to the door being locked. The homeowner then reported that the suspect walked to a vehicle parked in the driveway and opened the unlocked driver’s door. The suspect located a garage door opener and used it to open the overhead door.
As the suspect was walking towards the garage, the homeowner activated an alarm to another vehicle parked inside the garage. This caused the suspect to flee in his vehicle.
The homeowner was able to provide police with a description of the suspect and the vehicle. Responding officers located the vehicle a short distance away and identified the driver as the accused. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
