WOODBRIDGE, Va.– A man was arrested for malicious wounding after he repeatedly struck woman in the face, police report.

On September 16th at 4:36PM, police responded to the 1200 block of Bayside Ave in Woodbridge (22191) for a domestic dispute.
The victim, a 58 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated.
During the encounter, the accused struck the victim multiple times to her face. At one point, the accused used physical force to prevent the victim from leaving the residence to get help.
Eventually the victim was able to break free of the recused and flee the residence. The victim was able to flag down a neighbor who then contacted police.
The victim sustained significant, but non-life threatening, injuries to her face and was treated at an area hospital. The accused fled the area prior to police arrival but was located and arrested later that evening.
