STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — National Night Out will be celebrated this year on Tuesday Aug. 6.
In Stafford County, several neighborhoods will hold special events to commemorate the “take back the night” event. And, as in years past, a large community celebration will take place at Stafford Marketplace at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6.
The event features vendors, demonstrations, food, and police and fire vehicles.
According to Stafford’s National Night Out committee, the event:
* Heightens crime and drug prevention awareness;
* Generates support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
* Strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
* Sends a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
In addition to the event planned for Stafford Marketplace, the following Stafford County neighborhoods will hold night out events:
Austin Ridge
Autumn Ridge
Brentwood Estates
Celebrate by Del Webb
Falls Run
Garrison Woods
Hampton Oaks
Madison Falls Run
Park Ridge
Perry Farms
Potomac Hills
Settlers Landing
Spring Lake Farm
Stafford Lake
Stafford Oaks
The Village at England Run
Widewater Village

National Night Out was founded in 1981. Last year, Stafford County was recognized with a national award for their successful participation in the nationwide event.
