STAFFORD, Va. – Grind it up, shred it, and simply get rid of it.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday welcomed residents who brought old documents, receipts, and other official papers to the county courthouse where they were shredded.

For $5 per box, drivers pulled up in their vehicles and handed over a box of documents to a person who was waiting to take them off their hands. The documents were placed onto a shredder truck where they were destroyed.

A 100-pound per person limit was imposed on those dropping off documents. All of the proceeds from the event went to support the efforts of Stafford County Crime Solvers.
