MANASSAS PARK, Va. — New information from Manassas Park police indicates it was not human remains found along tracks used by Virginia Railway Express trains.

Police spokeswoman Karen Barton told PotomacLocal.com this morning a medical examiner has ruled out the possibility of the found remains being linked to a human being.

However, it’s still not clear as to what was in the box found late yesterday afternoon that prompted a halt to all VRE trains on its Manassas line.

Virginia Railway Express spokesman Mark Roeber told PotomacLocal.com Wednesday night that the commuter railroad was tipped off about a suspicious package found along the tracks, but he was unable to say who called in the tip.

Afterward, VRE notified Manassas Park police who were already working the case, said Roeber.
