Aden Road Washed Out

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Heavy rains Monday night washed out a portion of Aden Road in Prince William County.

The two-lane road links Independent Hill with Va. 28 in Nokesville, and is a popular back road for drivers headed toward Manassas or Fauquier County.

Virginia Department of Transportation crews are on the scene this morning assessing damage.

The washed-out road comes as the National Weather Service extended a flood warning for small and urban streams in Prince William County until 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. Fire and rescue crews in the county performed several water rescues this morning, pulling drivers who became trapped inside their cars in rushing water to safety.

Drivers are encouraged to turn around if they see rising waters or flooded roadways, said Prince William fire and rescue spokeswoman Kim Hylander.

Tonight, more showers and thunderstorms are possible, according to the weather service.
