Mudcats Pound Nationals 9-1

ZEBULON, N.C. – Carolina slugger Jeremie Tice knocked in five runs including a three-run homer in the seventh as the Mudcats beat Potomac 9-1 at Five County Stadium. The Nationals had just three hits in the loss.

Justin Bloxom opened the scoring with a massive homer over the right field line score off of Carolina starter Kyle Blair to lead off the third inning. The third four-bagger of the year for Bloxom gave the Nationals a 1-0 lead.

But the Mudcats opened their scoring in the bottom half of the inning. Against Potomac starter Matt Grace with two outs, Carlos Moncrief knocked in Delvi Cid to tie the score 1-1. Jeremie Tice then drove in Moncrief and lead off batter Tyler Holt on a pop-up that fell down the right field line to give the Mudcats the lead for good 3-1.
