Driver showed deputy walker ID, not license, say authorities
Sheriff’s authorities stopped a vehicle near Walmart on U.S. 17 in south Stafford after it appeared to have no recognizable license plates.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped the vehicle at 7:55 p.m. as it was traveling south along the highway. The vehicle appeared to have two separate license plates, the numbers on them faded or vague, with no visible state identification, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
The driver provided the deputy with a identification card that had been issued in Florida, but had no driver’s license, said Kennedy. A check of the driver’s record revealed his license that had been issued in Virginia was suspended in July, Kennedy added.
The deputy checked state DMV records and learned the driver had five previous driving on a revoked license charges, said Kennedy.
The deputy also reported finding drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. A check of the license plates revealed one was reported stolen by a resident of Florida, said Kennedy.
Marc Raper, of 9 Foxwood Drive in Stafford County, is charged with possession of a schedule II substance, driving on a revoked license, and with possession of stolen property, said Kennedy.
Raper was arrested and held on a $2,000 bond.
