Fredericksburg, Va. — Transportation officials in the Fredericksburg area report snow is falling on roads there.
The wintry precipitation is mainly affecting portions of Spotsylvania and Caroline counties, by Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kelly Hannon says crews across the area have been mobilized to remove snow.
Slushy snow was reported on Interstate 95 in North Stafford just after 6 p.m. Sunday.
Crews mobilized early Sunday morning in Caroline, Stafford and Spotsylvania counties and along Interstate 95 to prepare equipment and materials. Work crews will mobilize at mid-afternoon in the Northern Neck and along the Middle Peninsula, where snow is forecast to begin falling later in the day. The heaviest snowfall is forecast for the central areas of the Fredericksburg District, which could receive two to five inches of snow.

The Potomac Communities in eastern Prince William County and Stafford County were never under a winter weather watch. Rain and a light dusting on grassy areas is predicted in the overnight hours, forecasters said.Â
A weather watch that had been posted for Fauquier County and areas west was canceled Saturday night after forecasters said less snow than was originally expected would fall across the region.
