2 to 4 Inches of Snow Possible, Forecasters Say

A graphic created by WRC-TV Meteorologist Chuck Bell shows snowfall could impact our area Sunday.

Counties like Fauquier and others west of the Potomac Communities are under a winter storm watch. But that doesn’t mean snow won’t fall on us Sunday. The National Weather Service states some light snow could fall in our area between midday Sunday and overnight Monday.

Western portions of Virginia are expected to be largely impacted by the snowstorm, as forecasters have called for more than six inches to fall in places along the Interstate 81 corridor.

The storm is moving out the west and should begin as rain Sunday, stated the weather service.

WRC-TV Meteorologist Chuck Bell posted a graphic to Twitter on Saturday afternoon indicating two to four inches of the white stuff could fall in Prince William and Stafford counties. More should fall to the south and west and lesser amounts could fall to the north, he added.

Temperatures are expected to range in the mid to higher 30s on Sunday and then drop to a low of 28 Sunday night, according to the weather service.

The clouds move out and the sun should make a return Monday.
