North Stafford, Va. — Four people were taken to a hospital Thursday night after a serious car crash on Va. 610.
The driver of a 2011 GMC SUV was traveling west on Va. 610 about 8:30 p.m. when she tired to make a left turn onto Eustace Road, in front of a WaWa gas station.
The SUV pulled out in front of a 2002 Honda that was headed east on Va. 610, driven by a 27-year-old woman from Fredericksburg with two children inside, said Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler.
The SUV overturned and landed on its side, snarling traffic in the area for about an hour.
All four were taken to Stafford Hospital Center and appeared to suffer non-life threatening injuries, said Tyler.
Jacqueline Davis, 36, of Stafford, the driver of the SUV, was charged with reckless driving, said Tyler.
Though speed does not appear to be a factor, the cash comes after transportation officials this week lowered the speed limit on that stretch of Va. 610 from 45 to 40 mph. The speed limit was lowered on Va. 610 between Onville and Shelton Shop roads in hopes drivers will slow down at signalized intersections to avoid crashes.
