PotomacLocal.com Preferred: Italian Chophouse

Stafford, Va. — This ranks at that “great little Italian place” around the corner.

Zibibbo 73 Chophouse in Aquia Park is one of Stafford’s newest and coziest restaurants. It replaced the Firkin and Bulldog pub earlier this year, but the owners made few changes to the interior of the restaurant.

The dark wood that makes up the large bar remains, along with the building’s signature red carpet which helps to bring about the restaurant’s warm feel.

“This is place where people can come out and enjoy themselves, a place where a guy can bring his girl and have a good time,” said General Manager Dave Hanlon.

The establishment is owned by the same group that owns Vinny’s Italian Restaurant on Leavells Road in Spotsylvania County. This place, unlike Vinny’s, is a step up from casual family dining.

Zibibbo offers all types of dishes, from steaks, chicken and fish. One of the appetizers caught our eye: Spinach Hot Bacon, with baby spinach greens, caramelized onions, baby tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese and, of course, hot bacon. Hungry yet?

“It’s a taste of old-world cooking in a modern setting,” said Hanlon.

Zibibbo 73 sits in Aquia Park off Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. 1) and is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.
