Study Ranks Va.’s Healthiest Counties

What’s the healthiest county in Virginia? You can ask Fairfax residents, as they are considered to be the healthiest in the state.

Fairfax County ranked first on list compiled by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

Also on the list in the Potomac Communities: Prince William County ranked the 11th healthiest and Stafford ranked 15 on the list of 132 jurisdictions in the state.

The study measured various factors to reach their conclusion, including access to healthcare, public safety, income, education, tobacco and alcohol use and diet and exercise.

At the bottom of the list were the cities of Richmond, Petersburg and Emporia.

The University of Wisconsin has completed the survey each year since 2003.
