Spice banned, P.E. bill vetoed
For Gov. Robert F. McDonnell yesterday, it was one approved and one vetoed. The governor signed legislation to ban the synthetic marijuana plant known as Spice or K2, Fredericksburg.com reports. He vetoed a bill that would have required public school systems across the state to mandate 150 minutes of physical education each week, TimesDispatch.com reports.

Commuter town hall heats up over parking issues
Some area commuters unhappy with the location of the new commuter parking lot at the First Baptist Church in Woodbridge sounded off at elected leaders and transportation officials Wednesday night at a town hall meeting. Still upset over the loss of 750 commuter parking spaces at Potomac Mills mall, one commuter called herself a “Potomac Mills refugee,” Insidenova.com reports.
