Mt. Vernon, Va. –– Breast cancer survivors this month can learn how to stay healthy at a series of clinics sponsored in part by a Mt. Vernon hospital.
The Inova Breast Care Institute at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is partnering with a local boutique in Alexandria for a series of workshops that aims to show survivors how to eat healthy, learn about breast cancer screening options, and about risk factors that may affect them.
The first event in this month’s series will be held Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, at 205 Parker Lane in Mount Vernon, in the Engh Conference Room.
The second will be held at 6:50 p.m. Monday at the BeautyFull Boutique at 118 N. Fayette Street in Alexandria.
“We have come a long way towards more accurate screening and will continue to pursue the day when every cancer can be detected at an early, curable stage,” said David Weintritt, MD, at the Inova Breast Care Institute.
The boutique, and its counterpart The Full Cup, also consider holding the event an opportunity to reach out to survivors.
“Our store’s focus and core mission is to educate women on total breast wellness, from the benefits of wearing the proper fitting bra to teaching women how to acknowledge and take care of their breast”, said store manager Lindsey Palacios.
