Fire breaks out in kitchen

Stafford, Va. –– Rescue crews found a fire in the kitchen of a single-family home in Stafford on Sunday afternoon.

Fire and rescue crews were called to 84 Olde Concord Road at 5:32 p.m. after someone reported smoke on the second floor of the house.

When crews arrived, they pulled attack hoses into the house, found the fire in the kitchen and doused the blaze within five minutes, said Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department spokesman Mark Doyle.

One adult and one teenager were home when the blaze broke out, but neither they nor any firefighters were injured during the incident.

The victim’s of the fire did not need help from the Red Cross, said Doyle.

The fire caused $60,000 in damage to the home, and its cause was ruled accidental.
