The Virginia Department of Transportation has planned some closures of major highways in the area for High Occupancy Toll lane construction:
The Virginia Department of Transportation announces several overnight travel impacts scheduled on I-395 at I-495 stating on Friday night, Feb. 11 through Sunday morning, Feb. 20, as part of the Capital Beltway High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes Project.
I-395 north at I-495: Each night, Friday, Feb. 11 through Saturday, Feb. 19, starting at 9:30 p.m. one lane will be closed on I-395 north, progressing to a full I-395 north closure after 10 p.m. Detour: Motorists will be detoured to I-495 north to Exit 54A, Braddock Road (Route 620) west, follow signage to I-495 south to Exit 57, I-395 north. This closure allows crews to install steel bridge beams. All lanes will reopen on weekdays by 5 a.m., on Saturday by 7 a.m. and on Sunday by 9 a.m.
I-395 south at I-495: Each night, Sunday, Feb. 13 through Saturday, Feb. 19, crews will close one lane of I-395 south at I-495. Note: After midnight, all lanes on I-395 south will close at I-495 for up to 30 minutes at a time from bridge work. All lanes will reopen on weekdays by 5 a.m., on Saturday by 7 a.m. and on Sunday by 9 a.m.
I-395 HOV lanes at I-495: Each night, Monday, Feb. 14 and Tuesday, Feb. 15, crews will close all HOV lanes of I-395 at I-495 for bridge work. Detour: Motorists will be directed to stay on the mainline of I-395. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
