Car stolen, others broken into on same street

North Stafford, Va. –– A car was stolen and several others broken into in the Sunnydale Meadows neighborhood in North Stafford.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to Westminster Lane just off Staffordboro Boulevard at 5:15 a.m. Thursday after someone reported their 4-door maroon Toyota Tercel stolen.

Its owner drove it home Wednesday night, woke up Thursday and found it missing, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

As authorities began their investigation they found more cars parked in the same area had been broken into overnight.

Deputies reported four larcenies from vehicles parked in the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of Westminster Lane. The cars were ransacked and some items in one vehicle, including an expensive pair of sunglasses and an iPod, were missing, said Kennedy.

As of Friday evening, investigators had yet to tie the stolen car to the series of larcenies from vehicles, but were looking into a possible link.
