3 charged in Craigslist robberies

Stafford County, Va. – Three men now face charges in a string of apparent Craigslist robberies, investigators say.

The attempted robberies date back to July 18, when two different victims were told to meet the suspects at a predetermined location in Stafford to pay for an iPhone and Playstation 3 the victims thought they had purchased on the popular trade services Web site, Craigslist, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

When the first victim arrived, the suspects tried to rob and assault him. But the victim was able to chase away the suspects, and then went to the sheriff’s office to report what had happened, said Kennedy.

While he was meeting with investigators, a second victim went to the same location to pick up items he thought he had purchased on Craigslist, but was assaulted.

The second victim also went to the sheriff’s office to report what happened, said Kennedy.

The first two suspects were arrested late last month.

Jarren Arees Fields, 20, of 80 Dent Road in Stafford County, turned himself following the reported assault and is now charged with attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit attempted robbery and with malicious wounding.

Rashad Jamar Lightfoot, 19, of 8 Apple Tree Lane in Stafford County, was arrested late last month at a relative’s home in Woodbridge, and faces similar charges – including a charge of assault by mob, said Kennedy.

The third suspect, 20-year-old Adrian Marquelle Clark, of 120 Holmes Street in Stafford, was arrested Aug. 12 and now faces similar charges.

Lightfoot and Clark are being held without bond, said Kennedy.
