While it may be quiet on campus as students will return the classroom virtually this fall, construction is underway at two Woodbridge-area high schools.

Auxilliary gymnasiums are being added to Gar-Field Senior and Woodbridge Senior High Schools in Woodbridge and Lake Ridge, respectively. The new gyms at both schools will 21,000 square-foot large when completed.


A suspect in the murder of 28-year-old Charlie Davis III, of. Dumfries, which occurred outside the Babylon night club in Woodbridge, is under arrest.

Murder Investigation *ARREST – On August 14, detectives with the Homicide Unit arrested the suspect involved in the fatal stabbing of Charlie DAVIS III which occurred in the parking lot of the Babylon Café located at 3081 Golansky Blvd in Woodbridge on July 24. The investigation revealed that the victim and the accused were involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot of the establishment when the victim was stabbed by the accused. The victim ultimately died from his injuries at an area hospital. The two men were not known to one another. Through the extensive investigation, homicide detectives were able to identify the accused and obtained warrants for his arrest. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Abdur Rahman ROLAND, was located at his home in Woodbridge where he was arrested without incident.


Traffic

The guardrail on the exit ramp from Interstate 95 to Route 123 in Woodbridge has been beaten up over the years.

It’s been so bad, the Virginia Department of Transportation needed to a new solution that would light up the guardrail so drivers would see it and not hit it. The answer: flashing yellow chevron signs noting the sharp curve of the exit ramp taking drivers from I-95 north to Route 123 toward Occoquan.


Powers Great American Midways erected its carnival in Jefferson Plaza, next to Todos Supermarket in Marumsco Plaza on Route 1 in Woodbridge. It’s a mix of rides, like the Ferris Wheel, swings, and that spinning spaceship that makes you feel sick once the ride comes to a complete stop.

Prince William County issued the permit for the carnival — one of at least two that has sprung up in the county this summer.


Fairfax

A Virginia State Police trooper suffered minor injuries after his patrol car was rear-ended by another in Springfield early Friday, July 31.

Police stated that Trooper J. Kim was seated in his patrol vehicle and finishing up a crash investigation on Interstate 395 when a 2019 Jeep traveling south ran off the interstate and slammed into the back of the patrol car at 4:21 a.m., just north of Edsall Road.


Cierra Dickerson, who was involved in the fatal car accident that resulted in the death of Deborah Lynn Talbot, will face trial February 8, 2021.

According to a press release from the Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth, the suspect, Cierra Dickerson, 19, is charged with involuntary manslaughter under which carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $2500 fine.

Police are searching for a man who assaulted a woman in Woodbridge.

Prince William police were called on Tuesday, July 28, at 12:44 p.m. to Potomac Ridge Apartments located at 2800 block of Woodmark Drive in Woodbridge. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, told police that she and a man were involved in an argument that escalated on July 12.
