After more than a year of reduced operating hours in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) stores will return to pre-pandemic operating hours on May 14, 2021.

All stores will open by 10 a.m. every day, apart from some stores which regularly open later on Sundays. Store closing times, which returned to pre-pandemic hours in June 2020, will remain the same. Closing times vary by store.

Virginia Tax is reminding taxpayers in Virginia, if you haven’t yet filed your individual income taxes, the filing and payment deadline is just days away. You have until Monday, May 17, 2021, to submit your return.

“This year, the typical May 1 filing and payment deadline was extended by a few weeks to match the new IRS deadline,” said Tax Commissioner Craig M. Burns. “We are, as always, encouraging you to file electronically and request a refund, if you have one coming, via direct deposit.”

Travelers on Interstate 95 northbound should anticipate delays with double lane closures and full traffic stops scheduled to advance construction on the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project in Stafford County.

Starting at 10 p.m. tonight, May 10, I-95 northbound will be reduced to one lane north of exit 133 (Route 17) to exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to allow crews to prepare for a full traffic stop.
