Teen struck, killed on Sudley Road. Police work to ID driver.

GAINESVILLE — (Press Release) On September 22 at 2:29 a.m., investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Sudley Road near Catharpin Road in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian.

The investigation revealed a white, 4-door sedan was traveling westbound on Sudley Rd when the vehicle struck a pedestrian, identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile. The juvenile, a family member, and co-worker were completing a sealcoat job of a driveway at a residence in the above area at the time of the collision.

UMW poll shows Kaine ahead of Stewart, but race ‘likely to tighten up as the contest draws nearer’

FREDERICKSBURG — (Press Release) Sen. Tim Kaine holds double-digit leads over Republican nominee Corey Stewart among both registered and likely voters, according to a new University of Mary Washington statewide survey.

The survey, conducted September 4-9 for UMW by the national research firm SSRS, found that Kaine had a 51 percent to 33 percent margin among registered voters and a 52 percent to 36 percent margin among likely voters. Libertarian candidate Matt Waters received 5 percent support in both subsets of Virginians.
