Fish Window Cleaning owner Lona Bryan and her crew volunteered to clean the windows at the Boys & Girls Club of Manassas during National Random Acts of Kindness Week, giving back to the organization that first introduced her children to organized sports.

A random act of kindness can make a big difference. That’s the mindset of Lona Bryan, owner of Fish Window Cleaning, who brought her crew out to the Boys & Girls Club of Manassas Thursday. The Fish crew volunteered to clean the windows at the nonprofit, which provides before and after-school activities to community children including sports and educational programs. The initiative was in celebration of National Random Acts of Kindness Week.

Prince William County could soon be home to a new inline hockey rink at the Hylton Boys and Girls Club in Dale City, following an in-depth discussion by the Board of County Supervisors during their December 17, 2024, meeting. The facility results from a partnership between the Boys and Girls Club, Prince William Ice Center, the Washington Capitals, and George Mason University.

Seth Hendler-Voss, the county’s Director of Parks and Recreation, introduced the project, describing it as “an exciting partnership opportunity to bring a new recreation amenity to Prince William County.” He outlined the proposed location and the collaboration required to make the rink a reality.

There was a time in the 1970s when kids would get a plastic hockey blade, screw it on a broomstick, and run around the street, hitting the ball into the homemade goal.

Sometimes, the goalie wore a football helmet and old pillows strapped to the legs and called the game "street hockey." Fast forward about 50 years, and there's still a game like this called "ball hockey," and it's coming to Dale City.
