Manassas non-profit donates 300 books to SPARK foundation

Didlake raised money for the books through donations to the Toys for Tots Literacy Program at its The UPS Store franchises.

“SPARK, the education foundation for PWCS, is grateful for the wonderful donation of books from Didlake and The UPS Stores. It is support from community partners such as these that allow our foundation to continue to provide invaluable resources to our education community here at Prince William County Public Schools,” said Dawn Davis, Executive Director of SPARK, after accepting the books from Joe Diaz, Didlake COO, and April Chervenka, Business Manager of The UPS Stores for Didlake. SPARK engages community partners to fund and promote initiatives that enhance educational excellence.

Mary Washington Hospital ranks among the Top 5 in Virginia for Joint Replacement according to a new analysis released by Healthgrades, the marketplace connecting doctors and patients. To determine this year’s State Ranking recipients, Healthgrades evaluated clinical performance for nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide focusing on 18 specialties across a mix of chronic, urgent, and surgical areas.

“This recognition celebrates the commitment to excellence demonstrated by the physicians and staff who care for our orthopedic patients every day,” said Mike McDermott, MD, President and CEO of Mary Washington Healthcare. “The dedication of our joint replacement clinical leadership is reflected in this recognition, ranking joint replacement at MWH as one of the elite programs in the state.”

Kiley Edward “Jack” Cornwell, Jr., 81, of High View, WV, entered his heavenly home on January 11, 2023.

e was born on June 27, 1941, in Nokesville, VA, to Kiley E. Cornwell and Martha A. Cornwell. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marlene Virginia (Friend) Cornwell, as well as three sons: Stephen E. Cornwell and his wife, Christie, of Stephens City, VA; Gregory K. Cornwell and his wife, Renee, of Winston-Salem, NC; and Timothy S. Cornwell, and his wife, Sarah, of Barcelona, Spain. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Madison, Morgan, Mackenzie, Conner (wife-Natalie), Kaitlyn, Abigail, Alexandra, Grant, and Denton Cornwell. Surviving siblings are Mildred Davis, Luther Cornwell, David Cornwell and Donald Cornwell.

Second North Stafford Chick-fil-A to have larger kitchen, playground

A new Chick-fil-A restaurant in North Stafford will be one of the chain’s most extensive and updated models.

The restaurant will feature a dining room, a kitchen in the center, and a larger meal preparation area. Outside, drivers can use two of three lanes to pick up food from a window.
