When Potomac Local ran this story about the Dale City K Mart closing, it generated a bittersweet moment for me.

For as long as I can remember, I have complained about the entrance to Dale City. I’ve always wanted our community to look beautiful and inviting. I’ve long hoped it would become a place to drive to, not through.


· Good morning  – Happy Fall! Volunteers are needed at the Manassas Fall Jubilee event on Saturday October 4th. This event runs all day so lots of fun opportunities available including help in the pumpkin patch from 2pm-5pm, pour beer in the beer garden from 10am-2pm, check ID’s or poor beer from 2pm-5pm or check ID’s and sell tickets at the Wine Garden fr5om 2pm-5pm. · Leesylvania State Park needs volunteers also on Saturday October 4th to stomp seeds in their wildflower garden from 11am-1pm. Sounds fun to me! come as you are with your stomping shoes to join the event. Please call (703) 583-6904 with any questions.

Join me during this National Craft Open Studios weekend, a celebration of Amrican craft organized by the American Craft Council (ACC). Come visit my studio July 18-19th, 11am-5pm at 10449 Metropolitan Ave, Kensington, MD. Please drop in, see how my work is created, tour my studio and try your hand at hammering some metal.

Brentsville was established in 1820 to serve as the county seat of Prince William County. As residents moved west to farm, the original county seat in Dumfries was just too far for them to travel to.


Obituaries

Mary “Molly” Payne Fettig passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 20th.  She was a devoted mom, Grammy, sister, wife, daughter and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her.

She was born on July 22nd, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio where she spent her childhood.   She attended the University of Dayton, graduating in 1960, and remained an avid UD fan and proud Flyerette throughout her life.  In addition to UD sports, Molly loved watching college football, basketball and soccer, and above all, any sport her kids and grandkids played.  She loved to travel, living throughout the US from Hawaii to Camp LeJeune, NC and visiting many countries in Europe.
