MANASSAS — Some of them like working with the K9 dogs. Others like riding in the cruiser in a simulated police pursuit.

All of them are rising 9th-grade students headed to Osbourn High School in Manassas this fall. But they’re spending part of their summer with the city’s finest at the annual Youth Police Camp.

Join the New Dominion Choraliers put on a concert to honor the 250th Anniversary of the USA! The music in this choral concert captures the heart and soul of the American spirit through patriotic tunes and songs from the heartland. Joining the chorus are dancers from Dance Etc. School of the Arts and accompaniment from the talented members of Legacy Brass.

This family friendly and FREE event is perfect for young and old. Kids, parents, and grandparents will be familiar with many of the songs in this inspirational program. There are two opportunities to attend: Saturday, May 2 at 7:30 pm or Sunday, May 3 at 3:30 p.m.


Obituaries

Oskar A. Riemann of Wayland, NY formerly of Potomac, Maryland passed away on June 8, 2018 at the Livingston County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mount Morris, NY. He was born to Ludwiga and Johann Reimann.

Solar grew up in Rochester, NY and received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY where he was a popular student tutor. An avid reader, Oskar enjoyed traveling, and playing tennis. In his younger years he played soccer, hockey and loved skiing in NewYork and Vermont. His favorite summer activity was preparing a Clam boil for family and friends.

STAFFORD — Failing septic systems are a problem in Stafford County.

The homeowner at 685 Courthouse Road asked county officials for a non-subsidized sewage pump when the septic system at his home failed. Since its no longer filtering waste, as it was designed to do, the homeowner is now responsible for having the tank pumped out on a regular basis.
