MANASSAS — Football fields are a common amenity at Prince William County middle and high schools.

But in a time when the county’s population continues to grow, and when there are fewer and fewer acres on which to build the new schools that are needed to keep up, what if they weren’t?

On January 7, 2019, Deputies Wright, Forman, and McWaters responded to a medical emergency at a residence located on the 200 block of Spring Park Lane. Upon arrival, they learned there was a male subject tearing up his room on the third floor of the residence. They could hear him screaming.

Politics

RICHMOND — Gov. Ralph Northam introduced two legislative proposals at a press conference Monday aimed at improving voting access and transparency in the campaign finance system.

One proposal would allow Virginians to vote absentee without having to provide an excuse — legislation the governor said would reduce crowds at the polls on Election Day.  The current law, which Northam called “arbitrary,” requires citizens to give one of 20 reasons to vote absentee.

LAKE RIDGE — For about 15 minutes prior to the start of the school day, it’s a frenzy outside Lake Ridge Elementary School.

Mornings at any school can be hectic, but here at Lake Ridge on Hedges Run Drive, children and parents are dropping off children at a side entrance to the school, resulting in children and their parents darting out in front of oncoming vehicles, drivers slamming on brakes and stopping in the middle of the street, car horns blowing, and drivers making illegal u-turns.
