That money is cash seized from drug busts, commonly referred to as asset forfeiture funds. Prince William County has just over one million seized drug dollars in the bank.

WOODBRIDGE – One in five adults in the United States experience a mental health crisis, while 1 in 5 children ages 13 to 18 have, or will have a serious mental illness, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Because of these astonishing statistics, Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is hosting a Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Resource Fair. On Friday, September 20, from 5:45 – 7:45 p.m., mental health experts from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, Prince William County Community Services, National Alliance on Mental Illness and many more, will gather to take part in this important conversation.

DC South Asian Arts Council Inc in Collaboration with Embassy of India Presents Sarod Quintet- Three Generations, One legacy: Keeping India’s ethos of traditions and legacies alive, Three Generation Quintet represents the 6th, 7th and 8th generation of an unbroken chain of musicians coming together on stage and performing together. The concert will feature Sarod Grand Master Amjad Ali Khan and his sons Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash on Sarods. They are joined by Ayaan’s 13 year old Twins Zohaan and Abeer.

Advocates for the county’s newest zombie road, an extension of Van Buren Road, want the $70 million road project approved by next year.

Members of “Van Buren Now,” a citizen group organized on Facebook and represented at Tuesday’s Prince William Board of County Supervisors by Montclair resident Heather Paige, aims to put pressure on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors to extend Van Buren Road from Route 234 near Interstate 95 in Dumfries east to Benita Fitzgerald and Cardinal drives in Dale City.

Residents of Prince William County and the independent cities of Manassas and Manassas all use libraries in the county as part of a shared-services agreement. Neither independent city has a library of its own.

The crane, owned by Maryland-based Digging & Rigging, Inc. made a hit because of it shape that resembled a robot. Members of the Facebook group Western Prince William Chatter took photos, created memes and dubbed the crane “Steve.” Digging & Rigging, Inc. subsequently put a nametag on the crane, much to the amusement of not just the community, but the local and national news.
