Stafford Cares is a county-wide initiative that includes a number of new programs and projects fostering the well-being of Stafford citizens and businesses. These programs are designed to help many in need, as our community recovers from the impact of the Coronavirus.
Stafford Cares projects will address a number of social and economic impacts from mental health, physical health, and financial stability in Stafford.

Spheres of Influence: From the Biosphere to the Manosphere
Shooting Investigation – On February 8 at 1:26PM, officers responded to the area of Woodfern Ct. and Chablis Cl. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year- old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid to the man until rescue personnel arrived. The man was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was not initially cooperative with officers in the investigation. Officers continue to seek assistance from any witness to the incident. The investigation continues.
Residential Burglary – On February 8 at 11:14PM, officers responded to the Rolling Brook Apartments located in the 12700 block of Ripple Creek Ct. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. A resident of an apartment reported to police that the burglary occurred sometime between 1:00PM and 10:00PM. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the apartment through the rear door which was found damaged. A purse and an undisclosed amount of money were reported missing.
Virginia has made headlines in recent months for criminal justice reform measures but advocates say more needs to be done. They are disappointed lawmakers in both chambers of the General Assembly recently killed proposals to reduce qualified immunity protections for police officers.
State lawmakers so far this session have advanced bills to legalize marijuana, remove mandatory minimum sentences and abolish the death penalty. During the special session called last year, the General Assembly banned police from using no-knock search warrants and chokeholds.
Another winter storm has our area in its sights. It could arrive tomorrow night and affect the region through Thursday morning.

Juan Francisco Morales Alvarado, of Woodbridge, passed away Sunday January 31 at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his son Marlon Morales in 2001 and by his loving wife Zoila Morales who passed away in 2014.
