Former Virginia Delegate, David G. Brickley, of Woodbridge recently earned the Boy Scouts of America William T. Hornaday Gold Medal for Distinguished Service to Natural Resource Conservation at the Boy Scouts’ National Capital Area Council’s annual meeting.
Brickley, a retired attorney, has been active in the Boy Scouts of America for more than 40 years, and currently serves an assistant scout master of the all-girl troop 1888 in Fairfax.

The COVID virus is no respecter of race or ethnicity, but its infection rate ravages Black and Hispanic communities at far higher rates that White populations. Black and Hispanic hospitalizations and mortality also occur at far higher rates than among White populations, but their life-saving vaccination rates are far below that of Whites.
The reasons are not a mystery. Black and Hispanic workers are more likely to work in essential services where transmission of the virus is more frequent, they often live in multi-generational homes, and have less access to health care.

Shooting Investigation – On February 13 at 1:18AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 9300 block of Dawson Creek Dr in Nokesville (20181) to investigate a shots fired call.
The investigation revealed that a large party was occurring at the residence when multiple rounds were fired. Most of the attendees dispersed following the gunshots and before officers arrived at the home. Officers located several shell casings and further evidence a shooting occurred.

Route 29 (Lee Highway) in Centreville will be reduced to a single lane in each direction under I-66 for demolition of the remaining bridge pier of the old I-66 bridges over Route 29 during the overnight hours Friday, February 19. Two-way traffic will run on Route 29 South during this period.

Johnny Brooks also known as “John” was born on December 31, 1948, in Washington, D.C., departed this life on Sunday February 7, 2021. Born to the late Lorence and Bersia Lester.
Johnny attended public school in Prince Georges County, Md. Graduated from University of Maryland. He received an honorable discharge from U.S. Army in 1968. Johnny was employed with the Federal Government as a Professional Photographer and retired with 35 years of service. Johnny joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church 2004.
