Drivers who park their cars outside a Stafford County park have sparked the ire of nearby residents.

Aquia Landing Park, at the confluence of the Potomac River and Aquia Creek, was one of many beaches in Virginia that were closed off to visitors Gov. Ralph Northam in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.


In Manassas Park, there are currently 96 cases of the coronavirus with 11 people hospitalized, and two people have died from the disease.

As city leaders continue to see the number of coronavirus cases across the region rise, they’re also now turning their attention to the homeless community affected by the coronavirus. So far in the greater Prince William County region to include Manassas and Manassas Park, a total of 17 homeless people have contracted coronavirus.


The Stafford County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved their $320 million budget for Fiscal Year 2021. 

With the Real Estate tax rate of  97 cents per $100 of assessed property value — known as the equalized tax rate that was adopted on April 21 — the main focus of Tuesday’s budget meeting was to identify cuts and reductions to the budget. The equalized rate means property owners won’t see a hike in their Real Estate tax bills.

The two-time candidate for Virginia’s 1st Congressional District will face a Primary opponent, Qasim Rashid, who last year ran for the 28th District seat in the Virginia House of Delegates Senate seat and lost to Joshua Cole Richard Stuart (R).


An intoxicated man tried to assault a deputy and is now faces charges with breaking and entering, and tampering with vehicles, according to the Stafford sheriff’s office.

On April 29, at 11:50 p.m., a deputy was called to a breaking and entering in progress at a home in the 100 block of Barrett Heights Road in North Stafford. The resident said someone forced open the front door and in an attempt to break into the house. The residents heard the sound of the door opening and were able to close the door after a brief struggle with the would-be intruder, according to a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.


Manassas leaders are asking themselves if they can do more when it comes to bailing out business owners affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

At a city council meeting Tuesday night, leaders suggested taping the city’s $18 million rainy day fund in order to provide relief to businesses. The reserve represents 15% of the city’s general revenue budget and is to be used for emergencies.


Four Stafford County high school students are now the recipients of $8,000 of scholarship money.

The Stafford Education Foundation (SEF) recently awarded $2,000 scholarships to Aaryn Boatwright, of Colonial Forge High School, Karoline Colucci, of Mountain View High School, Crystan Rice, of North Stafford High School, and Jonathan Margrave, of Stafford High School. Students were notified they received a scholarship through videoconference technology.
