Former Virginia Delegate, David G. Brickley, of Woodbridge recently earned the Boy Scouts of America William T. Hornaday Gold Medal for Distinguished Service to Natural Resource Conservation at the Boy Scouts’ National Capital Area Council’s annual meeting.

Brickley, a retired attorney, has been active in the Boy Scouts of America for more than 40 years, and currently serves an assistant scout master of the all-girl troop 1888 in Fairfax.


The 2021 Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Virginia was a success, with Team PWCPD raising more than $3,100 for the athletes of Special Olympics Virginia.

The virtual event led to a 96% drop in donations, as the department last year raked in $91,000 for the event when it was held in-person at Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge.


Oh! Market near Manassas recently opened their mini-food court with take-out options for sushi, Korean cuisine and Mexican-fusion dishes. K-Bop, Wasabiko and Taco-Chinoz are food court vendors specific to Oh! Market.

Oh! Market stocks a variety of international grocery items from many cultures, like the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Mexico, Central and South America, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East and more. The food court normally has dine-in options, but due to COVID will only take out.


Prince William County Sheriff Glendell Hill is pleased to announce online applications are now being accepted for the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute (VSI) Scholarship Program for the 2021-2022 school year.

The scholarships were established to provide an opportunity for young people across Virginia to receive financial assistance in their pursuit of an education in law enforcement or criminal justice. This program is limited to students attending Virginia colleges and universities majoring in the criminal justice field. (Those majoring in law or pursuing a career as a lawyer are not eligible).

The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is honored to be named a 2021 Dominion Energy ArtStar for its innovative music-learning program, Link Up.

Developed by the prestigious Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall, Link Up provides a unique opportunity for students in Grades 3-5 to come together for a shared cultural experience while addressing the nationwide need for an effective, research-based curriculum.


The Workhouse is thrilled to kick off its first-ever Mardi Gras celebration, featuring two weeks of family-friendly in-person and virtual events. These activities are planned in response to an unprecedented community engagement with arts offerings at the Workhouse during the pandemic.

This mini-festival is in progress as of February 1st with free online mixology sessions, classes on festive mask making, workshops on decorating cars and floats, and more. On Saturday, February 13, Let the Good Times Roll: Workhouse Mardi Gras will feature safe in-person activities, including socially distant glass bead demonstrations, Taste of Mardi Gras culinary art classes, a Mardi Gras drive-through parade, and contest, and two live drive-in comedy shows by Rahmein and Friends! During this COVID-safe and family-friendly extravaganza, visitors to the Workhouse are invited to explore art galleries and current exhibitions, as well as visit the Lucy Burns museum.


Multiple pieces of art from the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico are going on tour.

The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation today announced a new traveling combat art exhibition titled Honor, Courage, Commitment: Marine Corps Art, 1975-2018. The exhibit features 36 works of art by 15 combat artists, focusing on Marine Corps service immediately following the Vietnam War through recent years.


The Prince William County Police Department wants the public to know there is still time to help meet our goal in support Virginia Special Olympics by signing up with Team PWCPD for the 2021 Polar Plunge.

This year’s event, which culminates on Saturday, will look a little different due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but participants can still have a fantastic time supporting a great cause. Plunge Week is Feb. 1-6, 2021, with a virtual celebration on Feb. 6, 2021.
