What’s old is new again at one of the oldest houses in Prince William County, where George Washington once slept.
On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, friends and business owners gathered to cut a ribbon at Bel Air 1740 Weddings and Events center in Woodbridge. The business, owned by the former first couple of the county, Maria and Corey Stewart, is a welcome addition to the county’s eastern side that suffers from a lack of spaces to hold public events.

The JOy of Literacy Learning Center at 17646 Main Street will provide tutoring for grades 3 through 8, including cursive writing by age group, Phonics, STEM Workshops, professional development workshops for adults, court-mandated co-parenting seminars, and seminars and retreats.
Owners of the new Hilton Garden Inn celebrated the hotel’s grand opening in Haymarket.
At 5 p.m. Thursday, April 21, the Prince William Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for the new hotel at Route 55 and Jefferson Street, in the heart of town. Multiple members of the Haymarket Town Council attended, including Mayor Ken Luersen, Vice Mayor TracyLynn Pater, and Councilman Bob Weir.
(The Center Square) – Virginia’s unemployment rate continued to drop in March, falling to just 3%, but its total number of employed people and its labor participation rate are still lower than their pre-pandemic levels.
The unemployment rate dropped by 0.2% since February and its 3% rate keeps it below the national unemployment rate of 3.6%. The labor force increased by 19,532 jobs and its total number of employed residents rose by 24,454 people. The total number of unemployed residents decreased by 4,922. The labor force participation rate increased by 0.3 percentage points, up to 63.3%.

The Prince William Chamber announced that the event formerly known as Transitions has been renamed the Aging Gracefully Expo. The event will return in person this year after having to be conducted virtually the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Wegmans grocery store will phase out all plastic bags by the end of the year.
The company hopes to shift all customers to reusable bags, in what it calls the “the best option to solve the environmental challenge of single-use grocery bags.”

MWHC created a Field Hospital unit in anticipation of the crisis. Their employees work tirelessly to improve the people’s health in the communities they serve, which was evident throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. MWHC treated more than 6,000 COVID patients and administered more than 100,000 COVID tests. Once the vaccine became available, MWHC, for some time, administered 2,000 vaccines per day, with more than 212,000 doses given. 794 MWHC staff supported the vaccine clinic, and 437 community volunteers supported their efforts.
A new Chick-fil-A could be coming to the Dumfries area.
The fast-food restaurant with a cult following wants to build a 5,000 square-foot store at Route 1 and Pine Bluff Drive. The restaurant known for its chicken sandwiches would replace an old Applebees restaurant at 3330 Pine Bluff Drive.
The newest Sheetz gas station will open in Stafford County.
The new store will open on Thursday, April 7 at 8 a.m. Grand opening festivities will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 11 a.m. Ryan Sheetz, vice-president of company marketing, will cut a ribbon to open the store at 10:45 a.m.
