Prince William County Public Schools says it needs $10 million to put a digital device in the hands of every high school student in the county.

The School Board says it will cover half of the cost and is asking Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chair At-large Ann Wheeler to lobby her Board to provide $5 million in matching funds.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors will hold its first meeting in the era of the coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday, March 31.

Not only do we have more information on how the meeting will be held, and how crowds will be handled at the county’s McCoart government center during the meeting, we’re also hearing from the top elected leader of the governing body on her decision to hold the meeting.

I spent the past four hours scouring the web, looking for the Twitter handles of as many restaurants in our area — from Gainesville to Fredericksburg — that I could find.

Starting tomorrow in Virginia, it’s Restaurant Takeout Week, a chance for residents to support their favorite restaurants during a time when dining rooms are closed in the wake of a growing number of coronavirus cases in the state and in the U.S.

MurLarkey Distilled Spirits, now in the hand sanitizer business, can’t make any more of the stuff as of today.

The Gainesville-area distillery recently traded making vodka and gin and instead filled orders for hand sanitizer to fight coronavirus. The specially-made product went to first responders in Prince William County and Manassas.

Stafford County now leads the Rappahannock area with the most number of coronavirus cases with 13.

There’s now a total of 20 cases reported by the Rappahannock Health District. The second case of coronavirus has been reported in Fredericksburg, but there are no additional details about the patient, said city spokeswoman Sonja Cantu.


The Dominos pizza corporation is reacting today to a social media post that alleges a manager at its Dale City location is forcing sick people to work.

The post on Facebook alleges that managers and a driver are sick, and were told to come to work after they told management they wanted to be tested, presumably, for the coronavirus disease. The post was shared with Potomac Local News:


Prince William

Supervisors in Prince William County will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday.

However, there is a proposal on the table to end public comment time during public meetings. This portion of the meeting serves as a chance for residents to speak directly to their elected officials, and to be heard on just about anything.
