Driver, 19, charged after police pursuit, crash

A police pursuit in North Stafford ended with a vehicle careening through a gate and crashing into a ditch, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office tells us.

On June 15 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Deputy E. Taylor observed a Mitsubishi Lancer speeding on Garrisonville Road in the area of Doc Stone Road. The vehicle then proceeded through a red light onto Salisbury Drive without stopping.

Man suffers self-inflicted gunshot wound after police pursuit

An unidentified 26-year-old man is in a hospital tonight after police say he shot in himself after a brief police pursuit.

Police were called about 3:15 a.m. Sunday about a man who made “concerning statements,” said Prince William police 1st Sgt. Jonathan Perok.

Judge allows resident to refile FOIA case against Prince William Board of County Supervisors

Prince William County District Court Judge Wally S. Covington today allowed a case against the county Board of Supervisors to continue.

The judge ruled a non-suit, which allows the plaintiff in the case, Alan “Bret” Gloss, an eight-year resident of the county’s Coles District, to refile his complaint against the Board of County Supervisors at a later date.

HVAC fire displaces family from Dumfries-area home

Four adults and two children were displaced by a fire at their home.

Fire and rescue crews were called to a single-family home in the 16500 block of Reservoir Loop near Dumfries at 9:37 a.m. for a report of a structure fire. The neighborhood is located off Allen Dent Road.

The town, located on the Potomac River just 32 miles from Downtown Fredericksburg, will host a virtual Osprey Festival. The birds return every year to this community on Virginia’s Northern Neck Peninsula.

Prince William County Commonwealth Attorney Amy Ashworth has weighed in on a meeting that has prompted a lawsuit against the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.

In a letter sent to Potomac Local News today, Ashworth determined that no public business was conducted during a May 31 meeting of the Prince William County Police Citizens Advisory Board. The special meeting was called by committee chairman Cozy Bailey the morning after a riot engulfed the area of Sudley Road and Sudley Manor Drive, just five miles outside Manassas.
