The owner of one Occoquan’ s most successful restaurant groups is expanding by taking two concepts and placing them under one roof.

A combination “Third Base Pizza and Frozen Custard” and “The Grind N Crepe”, which serves coffee and crepes, will open in September on Kevin Walker Drive in Montclair, next to Georgios. The new restaurant will fill take-out orders only, a service that has increased in popularity during the pandemic.


Traffic

The guardrail on the exit ramp from Interstate 95 to Route 123 in Woodbridge has been beaten up over the years.

It’s been so bad, the Virginia Department of Transportation needed to a new solution that would light up the guardrail so drivers would see it and not hit it. The answer: flashing yellow chevron signs noting the sharp curve of the exit ramp taking drivers from I-95 north to Route 123 toward Occoquan.


Business

Owners and operators of hotels, restaurants, and other entertainment–style businesses are eligible for a series of new grants to be administered by the Stafford County Economic Development Authority.

Powers Great American Midways erected its carnival in Jefferson Plaza, next to Todos Supermarket in Marumsco Plaza on Route 1 in Woodbridge. It’s a mix of rides, like the Ferris Wheel, swings, and that spinning spaceship that makes you feel sick once the ride comes to a complete stop.

Prince William County issued the permit for the carnival — one of at least two that has sprung up in the county this summer.


News

Stafford County will launch an a phone app that will provide discounts at wineries, breweries, and restaurants, and other tourist destinations in the county.

The new app will be funded with a $10,000 grant the county received from the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s WanderLove Recovery Grant Program. The funds were made available to multiple jurisdictions, to organizations responsible for marketing areas to potential visitors to increase tourism in a region.
