Home Depot Coming to Gordon Plaza as Marina Way Extension Moves Forward

A new Home Depot is set to open in Gordon Plaza, marking a significant step in the redevelopment of North Woodbridge.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors approved the rezoning and special use permit for the 16-acre site at 13271 Gordon Boulevard, allowing for a home improvement store exceeding 80,000 square feet. The project will also feature a garden center, seasonal sales area, motor vehicle rental (limited), curbside pickup, and expanded parking facilities during its February 4, 2025 meeting.

Elva Lorraine Hansson, affectionately known as Lori to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, in Plant City, Florida, at the age of 77. Born on September 27, 1947, in Buffalo, New York, she was the cherished daughter of the late Edwin J. Stevenson and Marie Louise Wenner.

Lori’s life was a testament to love and dedication. She was the beloved wife of Ron Hansson, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 58 years. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Lori’s legacy continues through her loving daughters, Lynnette (Chris) Fanning and Deanna (Mary) Hansson. She was a proud grandmother to Nick and Heather Fanning, whose lives were greatly enriched by her warmth and wisdom.

Fredericksburg City Public Schools to Launch Career and Technical Education Program with $1 Million Donation

Fredericksburg City Public Schools (FCPS) will soon embark on a new initiative to expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) student opportunities, thanks to a $1 million donation from the Silver Companies. Founded in Fredericksburg and now headquartered in Florida, the regional real estate company has pledged the investment to help build a new CTE Center, set to be named after Larry D. Silver, the company’s founder and a graduate of James Monroe High School.

The Fredericksburg Education Foundation will hold the funds until the concept for the new CTE Center is fully developed and the facility is constructed. This donation is part of an ongoing effort by FCPS to enhance its career training offerings, focusing on areas such as criminal justice, culinary arts, emergency medicine, trades like HVAC and plumbing, and many more.

Police Blotter: Burglary at Tobacco Shop, Warrant Service Leads to Three Arrests, and Increased Police Presence in Manassas

In Stafford County, a warrant service turned into a chase, leading to three arrests. Deputies also responded to fraud cases, a swatting incident, and vandalism involving a family dispute. In Prince William County, three juveniles at a shelter assaulted a staff member and stole his keys before fleeing, resulting in robbery charges. Meanwhile, Manassas City police responded to an increased presence at Pristine Court and Hood Road for an ongoing investigation, later confirming there was no threat to the public.
