Prince William

County residents can now schedule appointments for fingerprinting services through the Prince William County Police Department’s website. Appointments are available now for February 2021. The Fingerprinting Services web page will be updated to reflect additional dates.

Fingerprinting is performed at the Prince William County Police Department’s Licensing Section located at 8406 Kao Circle in Manassas (Euclid Business Center). Fingerprinting services are available ONLY to Prince William County residents or those seeking employment in Prince William County.


Obituaries

Ann Gurtler, 77, beloved mother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2020, of natural causes in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Ann Gurtler was born in Portland, Oregon in 1943. The family moved to Sacramento, California after the war, and that’s where Ann grew up. She went to UC Berkeley and got a degree in history; she was at Berkeley during the Free Speech Movement, which had an important effect on her life.  She worked at the Stanford Linear Accelerator and at Stanford Research International, both in Palo Alto, as a research assistant. In the late 60s she lived in Stockholm, Sweden, for a year, working for SRI, and then spent the next year traveling all over Europe. After she returned, she completed a Master’s Degree in Education, and her Master’s thesis was on the guru as teacher.


News

The investigation into the officer-involved shooting which occurred on January 17 at 1130 International Parkway has been completed.

The investigation was conducted by detectives with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. The completed investigation was subsequently turned over to the Stafford County Commonwealth’s Attorney for review. The Commonwealth’s Attorney was provided all the evidence collected, including witness statements, forensic evidence, and audio and video recordings.


The Moderna vaccine recommends administering a second dose between 28-32 days after the date individuals receive the first dose.

Prince William County is aware that there are currently no available appointments to schedule second doses in the Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS) in Prince William Health District (PWHD) clinics. The County is currently working on a process to ensure any person who received their first dose at a Prince William Health District clinic between Dec 28 and Jan 21 who is unable to schedule their second dose in VAMS is accommodated.


News

Although the jackpot-winning ticket in the January 22 Mega Millions drawing was not bought in Virginia, the Commonwealth benefitted from all the excitement.

During the 37 drawings of the jackpot run that began in September and ended with Friday night’s drawing, sales of Mega Millions tickets in Virginia generated an estimated $29.1 million in profit. By law, all of that profit goes to K-12 public education in the Commonwealth.
