Bryan Samuel, a 38-year old Woodbridge man, was sentenced to 180 months in prison for conspiring to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin and possession of a firearm, according to a release from the United States Department of Justice.
Samuel pled guilty in county on February 19, before his trial began.
It was stated in court documents that Samuel and four other individuals were involved in obtaining large amounts of heroin from the surrounding Washington D.C. area. The group would then repackage the heroin and resell the goods to individuals in Prince William County.

Last night, the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas announced their sixth season performance lineup for 2015-2016 to patrons and the press.
The announcement included several acts in their Hylton Family Series, like ventriloquist Kevin Johnson, their Hylton Presents performances, such as The Midtown Men, and a slew of Matinee Idylls, including the Echos Chamber Choir.
According to Rick Davis, Executive Director of the Hylton Center, the announcement event has doubled in size from last year.

Prince William County will be receiving $10.5 million dollars over the next four years to start a new Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI+) program for preschoolers.
The county has had a Head Start and VPI program for several years, but this new VPI+, which is set to start in September, will allow more children to receive preschool services.
While the Head Start and VPI programs were funded by state and local dollars in the past, this new preschool initiative will help the county to provide programs without as much financial strain, according to Phil Kavits, the Director of Communication Services for Prince William County Schools.Â

On February 2, the Prince William County Electoral Board appointed Michele White as the new Director of Elections and General Registrar.
White had worked as the general registrar in Culpeper County for ten years, prior to the appointment, according to a release.
Additionally, White has worked to cover 25 elections in her time working in Culpeper, including three presidential elections, according to a release.

A study conducted in February of 1,266 area drivers has provided information on the ways that the 95 Express Lanes are changing the commute and general travel for Virginia drivers.
The 95 Express Lanes opened at the end of December last year. Transurban, the company that currently operates the Express Lanes, conducted the study.
While the Express Lanes have been able to alleviate some of the areaâs commuter traffic, the survey found that a majority of drivers using the lanes (41%), were using them for visiting family and friends.

In the last three years, AT&T has invested almost $950 million dollars in wireless and wired network infrastructure, including local improvements in the Northern Virginia region.
While the projects were being completed all across the state, several of AT&Tâs upgrades took place in the Prince William and Manassas area.
In Haymarket, the company upgraded their 4G LTE cell sites, which are located at the intersection of Antioch Road and Route 66. According to a release, this was done in anticipation of further growth in the western part of Prince William County.

The Aden Road Bridge, located just east of Route 28 in Nokesville, will undergo extensive repairs and expansion as part of a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) improvement project this summer.
The project will cost $5.77 million dollars, according to VDOT.
Built in 1882, the bridge was owned by the Keystone Bridge Company, and was later purchased by the Norfolk Southern Railroad, who transferred the ownership rights to VDOT last year.

The Northern Virginia Family Service, a nonprofit human services group in Northern Virginia, will be hosting a dinner dance in Manassas this Friday, to celebrate the 40-year anniversary of their SERVE program.
The SERVE program has provided necessities for Manassas and western Prince William County residents throughout the 40 years of the program. They offer âa safe place to sleep, their next meal, or perhaps a warm winter jacket,â according to a release.
âSERVE was founded by local churches who wanted to ensure that our neighborsâ needs were being met in a compassionate, professional and also fiscally responsible way,â says Pam Ryan, director of Anti-Hunger Programs at SERVE, in a release.

Several area organizations, including the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP), have announced free ride offers for those planning to party on St. Patrickâs Day.
WRAP has launched a SoberRide program for St. Patrickâs Day this year, which will allow area residents to access a free and safe ride home from 4 p.m. on Tuesday, to 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
The SoberRide program has been active since 1993, and WRAP has been able to provide more than 62,000 rides home for residents.
