The effort to widen Route 1 in Woodbridge from four to six lanes is picking up steam.

The two northbound lanes of Route 1, between the Marumsco Creek bridge and Annapolis Way, will shift onto new pavement Tuesday, May 12 as part of the Route 1 widening project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The Fredericksburg Transit Authority will receive federal funding to support its operations during the Coronavirus pandemic.

U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine announced $7.5 million in federal funding for the city of Fredericksburg. The funding was authorized by the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) under the CARES Act.

Construction of a new sidewalk and the expansion of a commuter parking lot at Interstate 95 in Stafford County was completed ahead of schedule.

The three-year, $195 million set of projects at milepost 140 aimed to expand capacity and improve travel in the county’s Courthouse Road area reached a milestone this week as work was completed on the final project elements, including the expansion of commuter parking and sidewalks, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

To that end, FAMPO is encouraging these groups of people to let them know about those changes through their new “COVID-19 Fredericksburg Regional Transportation Survey.”

The Prince William County Service Authority (SA) recently honored 10 area students for their water-related entries in the 2020 Prince William-Manassas Regional Science and Engineering Fair held last month at the Edward L. Kelly Leadership Center in Manassas.
