STAFFORD – (Press Release) Three juvenile suspects have been charged in connection with a residential burglary that occurred on Friday in Stafford County.

On November 23, 2018, at approximately 8:59 p.m., Deputy Houde responded to a past occurred breaking and entering at a residence on Spring Lake Drive. While away from the residence, the homeowners observed two subjects breaking into their house through their home security cameras.

MANASSAS – (Press Release) On November 26, 2018 at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers of the Manassas City Police Department responded to the 8900 block of Rosewood St for a report of a burglary. The investigation revealed forced entry was made through a sliding glass door of the residence between 2:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Cash and jewelry were reported missing. The investigation is on-going.

GAINESVILLE – (Press Release) On November 27 at 11:42AM, investigators with the Crash Unit responded to Lee Hwy at Heathcote Blvd in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a fatal two vehicle crash. The initial investigation revealed that the driver of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee was attempting to make a left hand turn from northbound Lee Hwy onto Heathcote Blvd when the vehicle collided with a 2002 Peterbilt tractor with a flatbed trailer traveling on southbound Lee Hwy. The driver of the Jeep was transported to an area hospital where she died as a result of her injuries. The driver of the Peterbilt remained on scene and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Speed, alcohol, and drugs were not factors in this crash. No charges are pending at this time. The investigation continues.

STAFFORD COUNTY — (Press Release) Due to inclement weather, the Virginia Department of Transportation will shift the lanes of Courthouse Road in Stafford County one day late.

According to a press release sent Monday, Starting early Wednesday, Nov. 28, all Courthouse Road traffic will shift to new pavement between Colonial Forge High School and Snowbird Lane in Stafford County.

STAFFORD – (Press Release) On Sunday November 25, 2018 at 1217 PM, Deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office responded to an unknown medical problem at a home on Newton Road in South Stafford.  Upon arrival, they spoke with a friend of the victim who stated he had knocked on the door of the residence, but the occupant did not answer.  Finding the back door unlocked, he went inside and found his friend on the floor, suffering from obvious trauma.  He immediately exited the home and called 911.

Deputies arrived and entered the home.  They found Mr. Larry Dean Roberson, fifty-four years old deceased.  Evidence revealed that he was the victim of a homicide.  There were no other subjects in the residence. 


Opinion

On November 20, 2018, during its work session, the Dumfries Town Council became the first town in Prince William County to adopt a Resolution in support of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment. 

In sharp contrast to the Prince William County Board of Supervisors Meeting where the Resolution was rejected, our Town Council adopted the Resolution in a 7-0 vote.
