A Second Amendment rally in Richmond on Monday drew more than 20.000 people to came to lobby for gun rights in Virginia.

Press release | The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has opened dual left-turn lanes from the Blue & Gray Parkway to Route 2 (Dixon Street) in the City of Fredericksburg ahead of the Chatham Bridge rehabilitation project. The bridge crosses the Rappahannock River and connects Stafford County with Fredericksburg via Route 3 (William Street).

Press release | The Stafford County Democratic Committee elected a diverse new leadership team following their reorganization caucus today. Every two years, the committee must dissolve and elect new members according to rules set by the Democratic Party of Virginia.

Benjamin M. Litchfield, the previous Chairman, was reelected without opposition. “I believe we have made great progress in the past two years,” Litchfield said, commenting on the recent elections of Delegate Joshua G. Cole and Griffis-Widewater Supervisor Tinesha Allen. “Our challenges this year are even greater and we cannot skip a beat. So, we’re getting right back to work. I am very eager to work with this team and think we can do great things together.”

On January 6, we were the first to tell you doctors at Rappahannock Women’s Health Center will no longer deliver babies at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.

The OB-GYN is one of the largest in the region, and will now deliver at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center in Spotsylvania County on February 8. Now, we’ve seen additional tours of the hospital for expectant parents added the hospital’s website in advance of the change.


Prince William

Prince William County reminds parents and students about changes to the school division’s grading policy that will do away with the tradition of honoring a class valedictorian.

Prince William County Public Schools spokeswoman Diana Gulotta statement | There is not a new grading system, just clarification and improvement to our current practices. Some of the improvements include: making sure academic grades do not include behaviors and conduct, but rather are summary of performance on specific learning objectives or standards taught.

Prince William police press release | On January 15 at 5:58 PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Quantico Gateway Dr in Triangle (22172) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian.

The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2010 Explorer Sport-Trac was traveling northbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy, just past the intersection with Quantico Gateway Dr, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as a 23-year-old man, was walking within the roadway on Jefferson Davis Hwy and not the designated sidewalk available.


Prince William

Charges have been filed after a 67-year-old woman was struck by two cars and killed while walking in a crosswalk in Dumfries in October 2019.

10 a.m. Friday, January 17 | The House Republicans in Richmond will get their secure briefing on the alleged threats facing the capitol plaza.

The briefing will take place in a secure location this afternoon, House J. Garren Shipley told Potomac Local this morning. Republicans pushed for more information following Gov. Ralph Northam’s gun ban ahead of Monday’s right-to-bear-arms rally planned for the capitol grounds on Monday.
