Gov. Ralph Northam recently signed a bill to cap the costs of prescription insulin copays at $50 per month, one of the lowest caps in the country.
House Bill 66, sponsored by Del. Lee Carter, D-Manassas, originally aimed to cap the costs of prescription insulin copays at $30 per month. By the time the bill passed the Senate, the cap was amended to $50 per month.

As the coronavirus hits correctional facilities, the ACLU is calling for the release of some nonviolent inmates to help prevent outbreaks and keep residents and staff safe.
The Virginia ACLU submitted a letter to the governor, along with the executive guidance document. The document focuses on reducing the overall populations in local and state custodial facilities, including reducing the intake of people.
Virginia residents are hunkering down to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the wake of Governor Northam’s “Stay at Home” order; but they can still volunteer, and there are plenty of opportunities locally to do so.
The Governor’s Executive Order permits individuals to leave their homes for “volunteering with organizations that provide charitable or social services,” and there are several opportunities that local residents can partake in, according to an e-mail from Jan Hawkins, Program Director for the Greater Prince William Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
During April, construction crews will start a safety widening project along sections of Route 635 (Decatur Road) and Route 628 (Ramoth Church Road) in Stafford County to expand the road shoulders.
Widening the shoulders will provide more recovery space for drivers if their vehicle strays from the travel lanes. The project is intended to reduce the risk of crashes and injuries that can result from vehicles running off the road.
