Woodbridge, Va. –– Ongoing work at a Woodbridge railroad crossing means it could take longer for fire and rescue crews to get to the Featherstone Shores neighborhood.

Traffic on busy Featherstone Road has been reduced to one lane across the rail road crossing, which is the gate way to the collection of single family homes that sit on the Belmont Bay.

North Stafford, Va. –– The man charged in connection to a robbery at a North Stafford gas station was looking to rob again, and is connected to a New York City street gang, authorities said.

Roberto Roque, 24, was arrested Oct. 12 in connection to the robbery at the Sunoco station on Va. 610 on Sept. 25, Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy said Tuesday.

Miguel Zelaya-Jovel was working to install a traffic light at the intersection of a commuter lot and Va. 234, just north of U.S. 1, said Prince William County spokesman Jason Grant.

After the commuter lot was expanded by 490 parking spaces last year, officials in April noted the need for a stop light at the commuter lot entrance and had been working since that time to install the light. (more…)


Quantico

Triangle, Va. –– Bullets flew and glass shattered Sunday at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

No artifacts were damaged in the shooting and no one was inside when the shooting occurred, but $20,000  damage was caused to the four-year-old building that sits in Triangle, near Quantico Marine Corps Base, according to Insidenova.com.

Stafford County, Va. –– A string of cars was broken into in the St. Georges Estates neighborhood of Stafford County, investigators said.

The larcenies from autos occurred between the late Thursday evening and early Friday morning in the neighborhood that sits off Joshua Drive behind Va. 610.

Stafford, Va. –– Congressman Rob Wittman met with a group of small business owners Friday at a popular Stafford County restaurant as part of his efforts to rally the vote as he takes on Democratic challenger Krystal Ball for Virginia’s 1st congressional seat.

During the meeting, he told attendees that government should relax restrictions placed on small businesses, create a new energy policy that includes nuclear energy and conservation, and to repeal the healthcare overhaul passed last year by congress. (more…)

Dumfries, Va. –– Have you ever heard the one about the civil war soldier in Dumfries who didn’t know his way to Potomac Mills? How about the janitor who’s been dead for years but can still be seen at Dumfries Elementary School?

Those who attended the ghost walk at the Weems-Botts Museum Friday night got an earful of these haunted tales, and got to hear the voices of what are said to be the ghosts of two little girls who live in the Weems-Botts house, captured on audio tape.
