Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men they say were involved in the stabbing, one of them last night at a Days Inn hotel and another Thursday night at a home in the Olde Forge neighborhood, on Sledgehammer Drive.

About 2 p.m. Tuesday, three men drove themselves to a hospital after they were stabbed in broad daylight during a football game on the street.

Woodbridge, Va. –– Some new Slug lines are coming to the area beginning Monday.

Three of the new lines will be at the First Baptist Church of Woodbridge –– an underused commuter lot now leased by Prince William County.

Stafford, Va. –– Gas prices are on the incline, but transportation experts urge drivers to fill up sooner than later.

In Stafford County this week regular unleaded gas prices are averaging $3.87 per gallon, up 35 cents from this time last month. The most expensive gas in the neighborhood can be found at the Sunoco station on Courthouse Road, where it’ll cost you $3.97 a gallon to fill your tank, according to AAA Mid Atlantic’s gas price finder.

Myrtle Beach, S.C. –– A five-run third inning propelled the Potomac Nationals to a series-splitting 8-6 victory Thursday night in Myrtle Beach.

Trevor Holder (1-2) earned his first victory of the 2011 campaign, Pat Lehman sealed the ballgame with his fifth save, but the headliner was Potomac’s offense. 15 hits and eight runs led the Nats to their second straight win and handed lefthander Robbie Ross (2-1) his first loss.

Lorton, Va. –– The debate over what to do with a waste-to-energy plant in Lorton continues weeks after officials thought they had a solution.

The incinerator plant sits on county-owned land in Lorton and is operated by Covanta, an energy firm that for the last 30 years has leased the facility from Fairfax County.

Gov. Robert F. McDonnell will sign off on a compromise between the Virginia Senate and House of Representatives that would shift the state’s 2nd House District to the Potomac Communities.

“I thank the General Assembly for passing this new redistricting plan. I will sign this legislation as soon as it reaches my desk. The plan as passed does address most of the criteria I outlined in my veto letter, and ensures that the elected members of the legislative branch fulfill their constitutional obligation to draw our electoral lines every ten years,” stated McDonnell in a statement.
