Woodbridge, Va. — Woodbridge residents: get ready for your phones to ring as Supervisor Frank Principi once more will call 10,000 homes so residents can share what’s on their minds.

The calls will begin Wednesday at 7 p.m., and residents will have the option of participating in the live chat where they can speak with Principi directly.

H&I Electronics at 18805 Fuller Heights Road will take your old TV set for free when dropped off at their store.

Old TV sets are part of a growing e-waste problem in the U.S., where more than 65 million pounds of old electronics have been recycled since 2008. Older cathode ray tube TV sets contain lead, hexavalent chromium and mercury, and EPA officials urges residents to recycle them rather than tossing them out.

Garrisonville, Va. –– Fire and rescue crews were called to a car fire at CVS Pharmacy on Va. 610 this morning.

Crews still were on the scene about 9 a.m., where all of the occupants of the car made it out safely and a nearby home was evacuated as a precaution, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

North Stafford, Va. — Four people were taken to a hospital Thursday night after a serious car crash on Va. 610.

The driver of a 2011 GMC SUV was traveling west on Va. 610 about 8:30 p.m. when she tired to make a left turn onto Eustace Road, in front of a WaWa gas station.

Stafford County, Va. –– Stafford County Public Schools has received its preliminary 2011-2012 Adequate Yearly Progress results. The AYP is determined by Standard of Learning test scores, but are a function of the No Child Left Behind Act. Scores will continue to be finalized by the Virginia Department of Education over the coming weeks.

Prince William County, Va. — Prince William County Public Schools announced this week that they are expanding upon an already successful program of selling advertising space on school websites.

PWCS was one of the first public school divisions in the country to offer advertising on school websites, featuring both regional businesses such as BB&T Bank and local business such as SwimKids Swim School on various school pages. These sponsorships were made available in 2008.

The fire broke out at 8:18 p.m., and after fire crews determined no one was inside the house they began a defensive attack on the fire, said Stafford fire and rescue spokesman Mark Doyle.

No one was injured in the blaze, however, a dog was killed in the fire.


Prince William

The 1993 pickup was headed south on Backlick Road, near the entrance to Interstate 95, when it crossed over a median and struck head on a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, then side swiped a 1996 Oldsmobile sedan.

The truck flipped and came to a rest on its side, said a Fairfax County police spokesperson.
