At 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, Trooper K. Terry observed a black sedan, traveling southbound on Interstate 95 near the 156 mile marker, run off the right side of the road and strike the cement Jersey wall several times, and continue down the right shoulder. Trooper Terry activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to stop for the trooper and a pursuit was initiated.
The suspect vehicle entered the southbound commercial vehicle weigh station and rest area at the 154 mile marker. It ran into a ditch and caught fire. As troopers responded to aid the driver, he brandished a weapon and aimed the handgun at the troopers. He finally complied with the troopers’ demands to put down the weapon and surrendered without further incident.
