FRANKLIN CARL HURST, age 74 of Haymarket, Virginia passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at his residence.
Frank was born November 14, 1939 in Loudoun County son of the late Carl Raymond and Cora Belle (Thompson) Hurst. He was employed with Vulcan Material as a plant mechanic for 26 years.
THOMAS GERARD MASTERSON, age 54, of Bristow, VA passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at his residence. He was born on June 29, 1959 in Woburn, MA the son of the late Charles J. and Catherine V. (Duran) Masterson. He was an agent with the O’Brien & Associates in Manassas, VA
Survivors include his loving wife, Elizabeth A Masterson; three children, Mariclare Masterson of Washington, DC, Thomas C. Masterson and Maggie E. Masterson both of Manassas, VA; one brother, Charles J. Masterson of Woburn, MA and three sisters, Charlene A. Cunningham of Orlando, FL, Elaine M. Chippola and Patricia E. Chisholm both of Woburn, MA.
John Henry Cobb age 85 of Manassas, VA died at his residence on Sunday, May 18, 2014.
He was a heavy equipment operator for R.C. Hawkins for 25 years before retiring. He came to Manassas in 1959 from Buckingham County, VA and he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with anyone that enjoyed life in general, worked hard and loved the simple things in life. He would tell ya ” pull up a chair and sit awhile

Police have identified the victim in Friday’s fatal stabbing in Woodbridge, and the man who they have charged in connection with the crime.
Jack Nicklaus came to the new 18-hole, 72 par course at the end of Potomac Shores Parkway near Dumfries on Wednesday. The course has been in the works since 2001, but financial troubles from the previous property owner during the financial crisis delayed its opening until this month.
Nicklaus said he designed hilly course with a large residential course with the community in mind, and is one of 290 courses designed by Nicklaus. It is open to the public.
Nearly 1 million people will hit the roads this Memorial Day weekend, and AAA Mid-Atlantic wants you to make sure your car is ready for travel.
“With approximately 811,000 Washington Metro area residents expected to travel by car during the holiday, many motorists could unfortunately be left stranded away from home this weekend if they haven’t properly prepared their vehicles,” said John B. Townsend II, AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Manager of Public and Government Affairs in a press release. “Since this job carries with it inherent dangers, all motorists are urged to give roadside responders room to work. Slow down and or move over when you encounter flashing lights at the roadside so these highway heroes can perform their job safely.”
