PRINCE WILIAM COUNTY — The Prince William County Service Authority conducted their third annual Water Academy program this summer.
The free five-week session, which ended on July 24, educated attendees on the utility’s water and wastewater infrastructure, wastewater treatment, and its role in protecting the environment.
MANASSAS — Write by the Rails (WbtR), the Prince William Chapter of the Virginia Writer’s Club, is pleased to announce the launch of an area-wide poetry installation entitled “Poems Around Town.”
The brainchild of WbtR vice president Jan Rayl, the arts initiative is meant to encourage residents and visitors to “stop and read a piece of literary art they might not otherwise even glance at, something short that will get them thinking in a different way.”

QUANTICO — The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation’s tenth annual Summer Concert Series continues Thursday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. with a performance by the United States Navy Sea Chanters.
The concert will take place at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) will be closed in both directions at I-66 nightly between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. beginning Aug. 14 into the following week.
During this time, construction crews can lift bridge beams into place for the new Sudley Road access road along westbound I-66.
FREDERICKSBURG — Drivers may encounter daytime delays next week on Truslow Road between Berea Church Road and Poplar Road in Stafford County.
During this time, a spot safety improvement project will be taking place.
WOODBRIDGE — At 5:53 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to 1826 Tilletson Place in Woodbridge for a townhouse fire.
According to Rebecca Barnes, Public Information Officer of the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department (OWL VFD), units arrived on scene with flames from two townhouses.
HAYMARKET — Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced-and-grilled subs, will open in Haymarket on Aug. 14.
Franchise owner Chris Brown will hold a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, Aug. 14 to Sunday, Aug. 18 to support Haymarket Regional Food Pantry.
MANASSAS — BrightCare Center is excited to host Northern Virginia’s First Sensory Carnival and Health Fair on Aug. 17 Saturday, September 14 at The Plaza in Woodbridge.
